Freewheelin’ Community Bikes Debuts 2015 Case for Support|2014 Annual Report at Year-End Fundraising Campaign

Indianapolis, IN – Freewheelin’ Community Bikes (FCB) is a youth development organization that uses bicycles as the conduit for mentoring disadvantaged and under-served youth ages 10-18.

FCB is a 501 c(3) charitable organization that provides year-round youth programming teaching bicycle mechanics, safe riding practices, and life and leadership skills through our signature Earn-A-Bike (EAB) program.  The introductory EAB program provides one-on-one adult mentorship in learning the fundamentals of bicycle mechanics.  When a student demonstrates proficiency in these mechanic basics, he or she can choose, restore and take home—earn–a bicycle from our donated stock.

In addition, our youth earn a helmet and lock for their bicycle.  Our advanced EAB students graduate from our program with marketable and portable job skills in bicycle mechanic knowledge.  FCB is currently the only organization in Central Indiana that offers hands-on education and leadership development to youth via bicycles.

Since 2007, FCB has served over 700 youth in through our EAB program. The EAB program helps develop a youth’s sense of accomplishment, confidence in working through difficult problems, character and pride of ownership.
